My handcrafted premium Nautical twist wooden pen in a beautiful piece of the original Teak decking from the HMS Onyx battery room hardwood is trimmed in a beautiful and complementing engraved and embossed Antique Brass finish. This attractive, premium twist pen features a Nautical Themed cap with a compass, Anchor clip and Sailing ship engraved nib. The cap finial is crafted into a ships compass. This handcrafted premium ball point pen is from my Nautical line of fine writing instruments.
The pen has an excellent twist mechanism and a unique, fine styling. This ball point writes extremely well having great balance and hand feel designed into it, and is a pleasure to write with.
In 1991, Onyx was decommissioned from the Royal Navy and was then cared for by the Warship Preservation Trust. In May 2006, Onyx left Birkenhead to form the centerpiece of The Submarine Heritage Center in Barrow-in-Furness. In April 2014 she was sailed from Barrow in tow for the Clyde and berthed at Rosneath where she was later scrapped.
HMS Onyx (S21) was an Oberon class submarine of the Royal Navy. Onyx was the only non-nuclear submarine of the Royal Navy to take part in the Falklands War. The diesel submarine went south with a special 5 man diving chamber and fully armed. The smaller displacement of Onyx compared to the nuclear submarines made her ideal for landing SBS marines ashore on the islands in shallow waters. Defense cuts in the UK saw the Royal Navy dispense with its diesel-powered submarines to concentrate on nuclear attack submarines. In 1991, Onyx was decommissioned from the navy.

Included with the pen is a Certificate of Authenticity. These former battery room deck pieces make outstanding pens. You can now own a piece of history. As you can see from the pictures, the deck has that well worn coloration of deep chocolate Teak. Quite exceptional!
All my pens are hand turned by me on my lathe and undergo a minimum 18 step finishing and polishing process to bring out the fantastic color tones embedded within in the teak hardwood.

I do not use inferior woods, acrylic formulations or pen mechanisms in any of my pens or pencils or other turnings!
This wooden pen is handmade as a premium ball point trimmed in an Antique Brass finish and uses a Parker style of ballpoint refill. Refills are readily available at stationery stores everywhere, or through my website. This is a highly polished and exquisite pen and requires little maintenance to retain its high gloss and beauty.
